school

starts tomorrow!  Here's hoping we don't all miraculously sleep in.  It's never happened before, but it probably will tomorrow.  Took some back to school pics of my girls.  Not through them all, but here's some that portray the mood pretty well.
And so it begins...

Thank goodness for big sisters...

ATX yesterday

We took a trip to ATX yesterday to check out an exhibit of Elliott Erwitt at the Harry Ransom center.  It was great.  Here are a couple pics from the day.

we stopped by the graffiti park in ATX

I've been teaching Abbie (teenager in red) about photography, so we all went together to check out Erwitt's work.

backyard play

we found a new treat we like in college station.  It's called Spoons and it's frozen yogurt you can add your own toppings to.  It's pretty awesome.

We were just having fun with some big bouncy balls in the backyard.

The Trung Sisters

I have been trying to teach the girls about different powerful women in history, with a focus on younger women.  Trying to encourage them to be powerful and bold.  The first women we learned about are the Trung sisters.  They lived in Vietnam around 40AD and helped defeat the invading Chinese army, thereby giving Vietnam it's freedom.  They ruled for only three years, but they broke all kinds of barriors in their short lived victory.
We went out to Washington on the Brazos and pretended to be the Trung sisters.  Marls kept yelling out  about defeating the Chinese and we fought out enemies with stick swords.
