we have had a crazy week here. monday marley was sick. tuesday we went to the doctor to find out about simba and as we left the doc's office we got a frantic call from my mom. marley had broken out in hives. apparently this is common when really young kids get sick. and then wednesday both ben and i were hit hard with a stomach virus, apparently the one marley had. it was awful. i wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. thank god for my mom. she came over to the rescue and took care of us and played with marley. ben bounced back pretty quickly, as he always does, but i didn't feel 100% until yesterday. and unfortunately my mom came down with it yesterday. oops. but i returned the favor and delivered her some get better things. she sounds better today. yesterday afternoon we went to a fall fun day, thrown my a local day school. marley wore her costume and incidentally, won the costume contest. well, of course she did. my mom made her costume and it was perfect. although there were lots of cute little ones there. marley was a bit over stimulated, thus the deer in head lights look, but she seemed to have a great time.

or as lori says fumfkins...we have had an adventure in parenting this past week. marley pooped on the floor for the first time. with ben and i both in the same room. neither one of us realized what was going on until it was too late. and then we hit up our church's pumpkin patch, which as you can tell marley had a blast at. she loved it. they are having a fall festival for little kids next weekend, so we'll be going to that too. and today my poor baby threw up for the first time. and by throw up i mean projectile vomited. so i've been pooped on, peed on, and vomited on. and i wouldn't trade it for anything, b/c it is all worth while when she gives me a grin, a hug, or a kiss. i don't think she's sick. i think she just needed to get some stuff out of her system. and thank god my mom is so awesome. i called and she came over and helped me clean up the aftermath and care for the little one. she went to bed early, but was acting normally before then. here's hoping it's not a bug and she gets a good night's sleep. tomorrow is her big 20th birthday!

it's off to work we go. ben, marley , and i have been chopping a way at the jungle we call a backyard bit by bit. today we made some pretty good headway. with marley's help of course.

Girls' Weekend

well, this past weekend mom, marley, and i had a girls' weekend. we made a trip to austin and buda and then down to san antonio. we spent friday shopping in austin, then headed to buda to hit up the quilt shop. then we stayed at fancy hotel and all shared a bed. marley was pretty excited about sleeping in a big girl's bed with mom and granny. saturday was back to the quilt shop and then marley and i headed down to san antonio to see our friend candice and baby juliet. and after that whirlwind trip we headed home. it was great. very nice to get away and have some girl time. and the house was still standing when i got home. the kitchen was even cleaner than when i left. =)
